Am I using my inhaler correctly?
Most people think they are supposed to seal their lips directly around the inhaler. This is not the case. Your best bet, and the method recommended by doctors and inhaler manufacturers, is to hold the inhaler approximately 2 inches away from your open mouth. As you discharge the inhaler, take a very slow deep breath, and try to hold the breath for a count of ten. Holding the inhaler away from your mouth allows the larger particles that normally deposit on your tongue to "rain out" before the medicine even pes your lips! You are still getting a dose of your medication, but this method is by far more successful.
