When playing blackjack, are you allowed to take out a pencil/paper to keep track ofhow much money you won/lost?

Generally it doesn't make too much sense because you could put the money you win in your pockets, and the money you lose will go to the casino, so you would be able to figure out how you are doing. Generally in Black Jack they don't allow paper or pencil, while in the other games you can use win/lose sheets to keep track. But again it depends on the casinos. I think because of the depression the Casinos are becoming more user friendly because they have lost many customers.
