MLA Paper In-text citation?

yes i realize this is a very specific question. I need to do in-text citations for a paper MLA style. I took stuff from a book and i realize the usual format is (Name of Author Page #). HOWEVER, the page i got the info from is written in roman numerals (like because its part of the intro.) i would just turn it into the actual #, but after the roman numeral section the Actual # section begins and so that would be referring to the wrong page. How do i do this. Can i just put (Kennan XVI) or what?
